Seattle artist Nancy Callan is a trailblazer in the demanding medium of blown glass. Callan's high-level training in Venetian glass-working techniques is the foundation of her innovative work with pattern, line and form. Her sculptural work combines an exacting formal aesthetic with strong color and a sense of adventure and fun. Callan’s creative output includes a number of distinctive series that are well-known to glass collectors, from the pop art-inflected Superhero Stingers and Tops to the refined natural forms of her Clouds and Droplets. This sculptural portfolio expands into two-dimensional compositions with the glass Wall Panels, created through a complex blowing and slumping process.
