Nancy Callan and Katherine Gray are longtime friends who enjoy working together on projects in glass. Their complementary skill sets and shared sense of humor create the foundation of a successful collaboration. Works in this section include one-off experiments made as class demos (Plaid Mushroom) and unique works that play with glass textures and iridized surfaces (White Rainbow and Ultraviolet Pool). The largest body of work, exhibited under the title The Clown In Me Loves You (2019-present), is a deep dive into glass history and techniques via the ambiguous figure of the clown. Using the familiar iconography of clowns as a visual and conceptual springboard, Callan and Gray created thirty-plus works ranging from freestanding sculptures to mixed-media wall pieces with content that spans the personal and the political.
